BBH London

Week 12 - 9th December 2013

Day 53

I thoroughly enjoyed the walk past Liberty and down Kingly Street to BBH where I had previously been for a week in April. I was greeted by Molly who was a Home Grown intern and she soon made me feel at home, especially as I was sat where I was last time meaning I recognised some faces! My day started with an image search for Axe of two males, one caucasian and one Thai. Then I was sent out to source some A5 envelopes for Christie's Christmas cards.

Day 54

Today I arranged a meeting in the coffee bar with the Home Grown interns as the 3-month scheme is something I am interested in myself. The three of them all gave me invaluable advice and tips that I could use when and if I choose to apply for the scheme myself. I had a great chat with one who was from Australia, learning about how the cultures differed and her experience of moving countries for work. Later I helped Molly on a creative task for Audi that involved gathering images as part of a creative theme. Afterwards, I decided to arrange a chat with a lady from Account Management. With only half an hour spare in her diary I quickly emailed her and luckily she agreed which was very nice of her seeing as she was so busy. The chat went really well and she gave me ideas to put on my CV and explained what personalities fit into Account Management and agreed she thought I would be the right person which was refreshing to hear!

Day 55

Today myself and Sahil (the other placement student) were briefed by Richard, who was head of digital. They are launching a first ever project in the New Year and was truly amazing to be a part of something so innovative and important. It involved us spending the whole of Thursday at Waterloo starting at 7.50am and finished at 7pm (long day!) but totally worth it! There we were to conduct primary research and gather data for the project.

Day 56

The early start was quite a shock but prepared me for what the real industry was like! We met Richard outside Platform 7 at 8.50 and he ran over things once more. We then had to go and meet a person from the station to get permission to work there. While the work was at time tedious, the swapping around of locations kept it interesting and was fun to people watch! We returned to the agency around Lunch time to catch up on a bit of work and then at 3.30 we left to start the second half. Richard said we could buy food and coffee's etc and it would all be reimbursed which was nice, so I helped myself to a new Gingerbread latte from Starbucks - gorgeous! Finally after concentrating on numbers and data all day, 7pm came along and we signed out.

Day 57

This morning I was told that Sahil and I were going to be taken for afternoon tea as a treat for our hard work yesterday which was exciting! Soon after a lady from J2O came over and asked if I could help her set up a meeting room as the client's were coming in and she needed a spare hand. I had to go out and buy food and drink for 10 people and then help set up the walls with visuals and work to date. I also asked her about what takes place in meetings like this and was good to get an idea of how different things work in an agency. Later I helped Sahil finish an audit he was working on and was given the task of social media which covered Instagram, Pinterest and Facebook. Work like this was not a chore for me as I use these sites for fun in my spare time! It was also interesting to see what brands were lagging behind in the online world - some very surprising!! Later was afternoon tea with Lucy, who used to be at Bournemouth, and we had lots of yummy tea and cakes as well as interesting talks about how she got into BBH and what life was like.
